Well the wonderful world of wikis. Hmmm I like wikis especially in the work place. Wikis in the work place for me represent a very easy way to update procedures and allow for the quick dissemination of information to all users through the watch function.
Wikis for library use apart from procedures seem to work well when used as a directory or place for basic information. An example of what I mean can be seen here in a library subject guide on geneaolgy http://www.libraryforlife.org/subjectguides/index.php/Genealogy
If wikis and blogs are going to work in the library world they need to be right up front on the web site and used for a specific purpose like promoting a conference or event to get feedback.
So using a wiki for work place procedures, directory/basic info subject guide or promoting an event and to obtain feedback appears to be the best practice for this web 2.0 tool.
